Course Description

This semester course is designed for those students who exhibit interest in computers.  Students will analyze and assess current and emerging technologies, while designing and creating multimedia/animation projects.  Students implement personal and interpersonal skills to prepare for a rapidly evolving workplace environment. The knowledge and skills acquired and practiced will enable students to successfully perform and interact in a technology-driven society.  Students enhance reading, writing, computing, communication, and critical thinking and apply them to the information technology environment. (Prerequisite: Technology Education, Technology Careers or teacher approval.)

Textbooks and Materials

  1. Textbook:  There is no textbook.

  2. You will need one solid colored folder.  This will be your class notebook (see below) which will be kept in the classroom and used on a daily basis.

  3. General supplies:  Students should come to class with paper, pencils or pens on a daily basis. Markers, glue sticks, and scissors are items that will be available as class sets but the student may want to use their own.  Some supplies may be available for a fee, but do not count on this as quantities are limited.

Attendance:

It is very important to attend every class period to ensure success.  Too many absences will most likely result in failure of this course.  It is the STUDENT’S responsibility to report to the teacher after ANY absence to find out what arrangements are necessary to catch up on notes, assignments, etc.  See grading policy as well.

Tardies:

Students are expected to be in the classroom, seated, with all materials, ready to begin class when the tardy bell rings.  Excessive tardies will result in conferences with the student, parent, and an administrator if necessary.  Students must be in their seats with their materials when the TARDY BELL rings.

Grading Policy: (subject to change)

  • Each 6  week grade will be calculated using the following percentages:

-Classwork, homework, Lab reports, group activities, notebook checks, quizzes, exams, etc.

-Assignments will be weighted according to the degree that they exhibit mastery of content, and will generally adhere to the following:

  • Each classwork, homework, notebook check or group activity will count as one grade in the grade-book

  • Each quiz will count as one grade in the grade-book

  • Each exam/project will count as two grades in the grade-book

Make-Up Assignments – Exams, Labs, Classwork, etc.

  1. Every assignment has a due date.  An “I” (incomplete) will be assigned for any assignment not turned in on that date. Students must make arrangements with me, the teacher, to turn in any assignment beyond the due date.  All work must be turned in to me in person.  Work placed on my desk, in the work to be graded box, on any table or desk in the room, under the door, or in my mailbox will not be accepted and may result in a grade of zero (0) for that assignment.  If I cannot be found, please leave a note and/or get with me as soon as possible to make arrangements for the assignment.  Academic Behavior grades will be affected by any work not turned in on time and/or complete.

  2. If absent, you will have 3 days to complete class assignments or exams missed.  An “incomplete” will be given to any absentee that does not complete their work within three days after their absence.

  • Put your Name, Date and Period on EVERYTHING!

Notebooks

Graded notebook checks will occur periodically throughout the

year, you must keep these organized and up to date.
